Notes:Overall this is a high quality guideline providing advice for identifying common mental health disorders in primary care and managing depression in all age groups. The guideline development team comprised a range of health practitioners and methodology expertise. Patient representatives were involved in the development of the guideline. The strengths and limitations of the body of evidence are well described and the recommendations are clearly linked to the evidence. Helpful tools for implementation are provided. There is limited cost effectiveness analysis and the procedure for updating the guideline is not provided. Although there is no formal auditing tool provided, clearly defined criteria within the recommendations could be adapted for use as an auditing tool.
